Signs Your Phone Battery Needs Replacing

Phone batteries degrade with every charge cycle - that's chemistry, not a fault. The question is when normal ageing has crossed into "needs replacing." A few signs make that fairly clear.

Rapid drain that wasn't there before (dropping 20-30% in an hour with normal use), the phone switching off unexpectedly even with charge showing on screen, it taking noticeably longer to charge than it used to, or the phone feeling warm during light use are all typical signs of a battery nearing the end of its usable life.

A swollen battery is different and more urgent - if the back cover or screen looks like it's lifting or bulging slightly, stop using and charging the device and get it looked at as soon as possible. That's a safety issue, not just a performance one.

Battery health readings (where your device shows one) are a useful indicator but not the full picture - a phone can show a reasonable percentage and still have inconsistent real-world performance, or vice versa. We check actual behaviour, not just the reported number, before recommending a replacement.

We use genuine Apple parts for Apple devices. For other brands, we use high-quality OEM-grade parts when an original part isn't available. The phone is tested afterwards to confirm normal charge/discharge behaviour before it comes back to you. As with any repair, the initial check is free if you go ahead with the replacement.

Battery replacements carry the same 3-month warranty as our other repairs. Warranty does not cover damage caused by customer negligence after the device is returned.
